One
of the most exciting things about the Children's Theatre and Youth Groups
at Beckenham, is that our young people are fearless and are happy to take
on unusual, interesting and challenging work. In the last two years alone,
they have taken on the harrowing Dreams of Anne Frank, Alan Ayckbourn's
madcap fantasy The Boy Who Fell Into a Book, the classic Agatha
Christie A Murder is Announced and some really tough monologues
and duologues, all to huge acclaim.
We are so lucky to have inspiring directors who are prepared to share
their expertise and passion, teaching, engaging and enthusing our young
people in the process... and delivering shows of consistently high quality,
which serve as a triumph of skill and imagination.
Our next show, Waterloo Sunset, has been newly devised for Beckenham
Theatre by Malcolm Jones, who worked with the group during our Diamond
Year to produce the brilliant, insightful Children's Hour...And A
Half. Waterloo Sunset is a series of classic sketches, skits,
songs and other paraphernalia from the swinging sixties: a great night
out for all the family!
